Got Questions for Limit Break Radio and Pet Food Alpha?

•October 26, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Exert from the Youmacon website:

Final Fantasy XI community site leaders and podcast hosts from Limit Break Radio and from Pet Food Alpha discuss what it’s like producing podcasts about the online role playing game, Final Fantasy XI. The panel will also discuss current plans for covering the upcoming game, Final Fantasy XIV. Be warned: This panel will be recorded and podcasted and/or streamed.

So, like, anyone have any questions they’d like me to shoot at them?  I’m sure it’s a pretty moot point of me posting this offer, what with Pet Food Alpha also being part of the Tarutaru Times  Online.  They’ll probably see any questions ya’ll have. *lol* (;p)

Project Shantotto: Dead Before It Really Began

•October 21, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I was going to keep this a secret, but my drive to finish this before Halloween has -well- essentially died.  I was going to make a Shantotto costume for Halloween/”really, for Youmacon”.

There were too many roadblocks.

  • I procrastinated two weeks.  Started this project on October 1.
  • When I checked Monday, the online store I was going to buy my wig from pointedly stated that it will not arrive on time for Halloween.
  • Even though I procrastinated for two week, during that time I was attempting to make a pattern from scratch with the help of a masking tape mannequin of myself.
  • The whole “pattern from scratch” thing failed horribly, and I ended up going crazy during a “99₵ McCall patterns” sale at Jo-Ann Store on Tuesday.
  • Same Tuesday, I spent the whole day figuring our how to resize the pattern to my measurements.  I kept messing up a lot before I realized how careless my mistakes were.
  • I am rather obsessive compulsive about the fabric I’m using (black poplin and apparel suede).  I’m going to need more of that poplin because I made some incorrect cuts. (>_<)
  • The pair of scissors that I just bought that were dedicated to cutting only fabric just weren’t making the cut.

So, I’ve given up working on it hardcore every chance I get.  After coming home 7PM everyday, I’m usually not privy to slaving away on something like that… even though it’s me crafting, and we all know how much I love to craft.  Really, it’s the scissor’s fault – I’m practically sawing away at the fabric.  It’s frustrating.

I’ll probably end up doing is work on it the whole of Sunday (after Nyzul Isle.  By the way, I got a Gae Bolg for my DRG during the last run on Sunday).  I’m aiming to get the basic part done, the tactician magician’s coat.   Probably sans the gold decoration on the coat top… ’cause I’m obsessive compulsive and want to embroider that in.  I hope it turns out much better than previous costumes I’ve made.

Donated an Extra Life

•October 17, 2009 • 2 Comments

Word up to the Extra Life Donation Drive at the Timbuktu Cafe!  Got to meet Aniero of Limit Break Radio (it was awesome meeting you!  Yay for Odinites!).  Was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to meet FusionX from Pet Food AlphaXiahou and I had a few questions to ask about Aion.

I got a chance to drop a line over the Limit Break Radio frequency, but I was too filled with nervous energy to think of something to say without babbling like an idiot.  I’m sure they had to deal with enough of those. (;p) Didn’t help that I was bewildered by the place.

Maybe next year if Final Fantasy XI still has a pulse next Extra Life, I might do a little something extra to accrue donations… along with better planning, maybe a cosplay (because I’m a geek like that), and maybe joining the lock-in.  That’s something I wondered about: how do they police that? *lol* (>.>;)

P.S. It was only after coming home and looking at their game list that I saw they had Rock Band.  Maybe it worked out afterall: like they needed some girl to sing “Roxanne” like in “Moulin Rouge”. (xD)

P.P.S. Oh, yeah, don’t worry: Xiahou and I donated, half of each going in the name of both Limit Break Radio and Pet Food Alpha.  Too bad I didn’t get a photo of the little doodle I slapped on the check. *lol* We’ll be dealing with packed lunches for a while.  Not that I have anything to complain about; I’ve been having the craziest urge for carrots and dip a good while. (o_O;)

I Give Up (Drawing)! (ノ`Д′)ノ=3 ⌒☆

Well, drawing with a tablet.

The last couple of times I’ve tried, I just can’t get it right.  I duplicate the position I’m usually in – well, almost.  Instead of my looking down at my lap, I’m looking up at the screen.  Might be something I’ll fool around with – putting the tablet on the keyboard with my laptop in my lap.  My laptop surprisingly doesn’t get too hot.  But, wait, if I do that, how will I deal with the faint vibrations my laptop gives?  Having my clipboard (with tablet on top) leaning against the (card – gah!) table suffers horribly from those vibrations.  And Xia’s occasional shifting.

Hmmm…

I’m still a “paper & pencil” artist, though.  No problem – I’ve gotten into the groove once in a while.  I can’t wait to show you the random silly things I’ve drawn!… except, I’m looking for a scanner.  I don’t want to rely on visits to Xia’s parents to scan my stuff.  I’ve done a little research, and it’s cheaper to buy a all-in-one printer/copier/scanner… than it is for just a scanner.  By, like, $100USD+.

(o_____O;)

Maybe I’ll eventually get off my fat, Tarutaru butt and find the angle of rotation I draw at. *lol*
